G r a c e

Here is the first of my triptych portraits. The triptych is for my college project "Global Issues", covering political and social situations. I'm painting it at the moment onto an oval canvas, to match the other two I have done already. The sketches for the other two will be up shortly.
I've never been this political in my art before, so I hope it had the impact I wanted.

This is piece is "Grace". And yes, she is handing you a bomb.
My main thought while drawing her was how children have no choice but to place their trust in those in power to look after them, be that the government as a whole or even their parents. That's what the bomb stand for. Power and Trust. Something that could end up causing her so much pain, but she's handing it over to you anyway.

Will you let her down?
